About Gastroenterology Associates
Gastroenterology Associates, P.A. was founded in 1996 by Dr. Caroll Koscheski and Dr. John Meier. Over the years, the practice has grown from two doctors with three employees to a team of nine physicians, seven advanced practice providers, and staff including more than 90 full and part-time employees. As our practice continues to grow, we are committed to providing our patients with quality resources, expertise, and advanced techniques within our specialty.
All of our physicians are board-certified in gastroenterology. Our physicians are fellowship-trained experts in endoscopy, the examination of the intestines with a “scope” or “light.” Our physicians have achieved a high level of skill with these procedures through rigorous training. Our practice has safely performed over one hundred thousand examinations. It makes a difference.
All of our providers are affiliated with Catawba Valley Medical Center and Frye Regional Medical Center. Our group also provides 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage as consultants in Gastroenterology for in-patients.
Our state-of-the-art endoscopy facility in our Hickory office has been recognized for outstanding quality measures by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We are licensed by Medicare and the State of North Carolina. Patients appreciate the comfortable atmosphere, our friendly staff, and the significant cost savings associated with procedures performed at our in-office facility.
We serve patients in a large multi-county, 50-mile-wide region, including the cities of Hickory, Conover, Newton, Maiden, Claremont, Catawba, Mountain View, Hildebran, Granite Falls, Hudson, Lenoir, Bethlehem, Taylorsville, Valdese, Morganton, Blowing Rock, Boone, North Wilkesboro, Statesville, Stony Point, Lincolnton, Vale, Denver, Dallas, Stanley, Cherryville, Gastonia, and Shelby.
