The endoscopy unit of Gastroenterology Associates, P.A. has been recognized for a third time for outstanding quality measures by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
ASGE honors endoscopy units that demonstrate a commitment to delivering high quality, safe patient care by meeting rigorous criteria set forth in its Endoscopy Unit Recognition program, the only national program recognizing quality and safety in the practice of GI endoscopy.
Gastroenterology Associates is the only endoscopy facility in the Unifour area to receive the ASGE Certificate of Recognition.
The certificate is granted for a three-year renewal period. Gastroenterology Associates endoscopy facility has been honored continuously since it opened in November 2005. In addition, the endoscopy unit was one of the first four centers in North Carolina to be recognized by ASGE.
“At Gastroenterology Associates, patient safety comes first,” said Terry Thomas, RN, CGRN, clinical manager with Gastroenterology Associates. “We are committed to the highest standards of quality and safety that are critical to GI endoscopic patient care.”
Procedures performed in the Hickory endoscopy center include: EGD (upper endoscopy), colonoscopy, small bowel enteroscopy, and biliary/pancreatic endoscopy.
